Young People Can Use the Kulturpass for Cultural Events
Young people who are turning 18 this year can now register for and use the Kulturpass. This pass comes with a credit of €200 that can be used for concerts, exhibitions, books, sound carriers on CD or vinyl, and more. It can be used with providers who have registered for the culture pass.
To use the culture pass, one would need to download the app from Google Play or the App Store and register. German nationals require an ID card with an online ID function, while EU citizens need an eID card. Non-EU citizens who live in Germany need an electronic residence permit. Once registered, Kulturpass holders can activate the budget of €200.
Preferences can be selected during registration, and the available offers can be filtered using the search option. The culture pass also offers recommendations on request. The selected and reserved ticket or item can be collected on-site from the providers.
For the providers, they can present their offers on the Kulturpass platform by registering with their Elster certificate and creating an account. The platform works like a webshop, and they can enter their offers manually, via a CSV file, or via an API. When an offer has been reserved, the platform’s system informs the providers, and they can then make the item available for collection. The price is automatically reimbursed to the providers within three weeks.
The culture pass was initiated by the German Bundestag in partnership with the Minister of State for Culture and Media, Claudia Roth, and the Federal Minister of Finance, Christian Lindner. It is aimed at getting young people excited about local culture and supporting the cultural sector.
Unlike the German-French friendship pass website, which was recently overloaded, the Kulturpass seems to have no technical difficulties. The website for the cultural pass offers documentation on the marketplace’s architecture and the app’s source code, available on GitHub.
In conclusion, the Kulturpass presents an exciting opportunity for young people to explore and support the cultural sector. With a credit of €200 and various offers available, the Kulturpass is a great way for young people to get started in experiencing and enjoying local culture.
