Jackson Irvine’s Impressive Form for FC St. Pauli
Jackson Irvine, aged 30, is one of the “very important players” for FC St. Pauli. The midfielder has led the Kiez club’s list of goalscorers alongside captain Lukas Daschner. He has scored seven goals for the team, out of which four were netted this year. Recently, he contributed a brace in the 5-0 win against Sandhausen, which helped the team secure eight consecutive wins in a row as they gear up for promotion.
Not just St. Pauli, but Irvine’s home country can also rely on him to perform well. During the international break, he scored as a striker for a 1-0 lead in a friendly match between Australia and Ecuador in Sydney. Fellow Australian team-mates, Awer Mabil and Garang Kuol, also contributed to the 3-1 victory for the hometown team.
Irvine’s excellent form is a significant boost for the club as they head into the final spurt of the season. The Kiez club is currently in the running for promotion and will be looking forward to attacking strongly when the league resumes.
Commenting on the break, Irvine said, “I think the break in the league comes at a good time – and we’ll come back stronger.” He also highlighted the contribution of teammate Conor Metcalfe, another Australian player in the squad. In the friendly match against Ecuador, Metcalfe came on in the 90th minute and replaced Irvine.
All in all, with Irvine’s impressive form and the support of his teammates, St. Pauli can hope for a strong finish this season.
