Fire Breaks Out in Restaurant Basement, Investigation Underway

An evacuation operation is underway at the building located on Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau. The fire is now under control.

An fire broke out on Thursday, October 19 on Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau in the first arrondissement of Paris, according to BFM Paris Ile-de-France, with information from the Paris firefighters.

The fire started in the basement of a restaurant located in a six-story building, around a technical duct, at around 7 p.m. Between 50 and 80 firefighters were involved in the operation. It was brought under control by the firefighters in the late evening.

There are no victims at the moment, the evacuation operation is underway. The area has been blocked off by law enforcement, according to a journalist from BFMTV.

An investigation is underway to determine the origin of the fire.
