Dortmund Eyes Next English Jewel Following Bellingham and Sancho to BVB

BVB: After Bellingham and Sancho, Dortmund want the next jewel in England

Is Shea Charles the next England Jewel for BVB?

Borussia Dortmund is no stranger to scouting top-class players in England. The Bundesliga giants have already brought three English players, including Jude Bellingham, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, and Jadon Sancho, to their team. Now, they have their sights set on another potential star from the Premier League quarter-finalists, Manchester City.

Shea Charles, who has been called a ‘model fighter’ for his defensive skills, is a versatile player who can play as a right-back or at the center of defense. He has already appeared as captain of the Citizens U23 and is a three-time national team player for Northern Ireland.

Despite having a contract with City until 2027, Charles knows that he might not get a chance to feature in Guardiola’s superstar team. That’s why he would be open to a new challenge in the Bundesliga.

BVB scouts have been particularly successful in their quest for English talent. Sancho, who was brought in for almost 8 million euros, was sold in 2021 for 85 million euros plus bonuses. Bynoe-Gittens came to the U19 for a small expense allowance and has increased his market value to 8 million euros. As for Bellingham, he was brought in for a whopping 25 million euros and is now the most valuable player in the Bundesliga with a market value of 110 million euros.

It’s clear that Dortmund’s strategy of scouting top-class players in England has proven to be successful. With Charles possibly becoming their latest acquisition, BVB might continue to dominate the Bundesliga and turn their team into a dream destination for English talent.
