Cristiano Ronaldo Shatters Enormous World Record During Portugal’s International Match

Cristiano Ronaldo breaks giant world record – in international match with Portugal

Ronaldo Breaks Records in Latest Football Match

Cristiano Ronaldo has broken the world record for international football appearances with his 197th appearance for Portugal in a European Championship qualifier game in Lisbon against Liechtenstein. The superstar footballer captained the team and confidently converted a penalty into the left corner in the 51st minute, before making it 4-0 with a dry free kick in the 63rd minute.

A Proud Moment for Ronaldo

Ronaldo has made history and is the sole international football record player with this latest achievement. The superstar also previously shared the world record with Bader Ahmed Al-Mutawa, who has played in 196 international matches for Kuwait. According to reports, Lothar Matthäus, Germany’s record national player, had made 150 appearances in his career.

After the game, Ronaldo shared his pride and relief with the world via Instagram. He wrote, It’s such a good feeling to be back playing for Seleção and scoring goals. The superstar from the Saudi club Al Nassr continued to express his joy about the achievement, stating that he was “proud” of the world record.

Ronaldo’s Changing Role in the Team

Despite the superstar’s achievement, Ronaldo was hardly present in the game against Liechtenstein, except for his two standard goals. Ronaldo can still add value to the team, but his role is changing under new coach Roberto Martínez. Martínez substituted Ronaldo in the 78th minute with Gonçalo Ramos, who has already taken his undisputed place from Ronaldo at the World Cup in Qatar status bypasses.

Martínez has made it clear that he will continue to rely on Ronaldo and his great experience. However, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Spaniard sees him outside the next game in Luxembourg on Sunday and lets Ramos storm from the start. Ronaldo’s response to potentially being benched is yet to be seen.

Ronaldo has proven yet again why he is one of the greatest footballers of all time. His constant drive and pursuit of excellence have led him to break yet another world record, cementing his legacy in the world of football.
