Marco Friedl Faces Ups and Downs in Bundesliga Season
Marco Friedl, the captain of Werder Bremen, has had a bumpy ride this Bundesliga season. Despite being known for his confident and calm defensive behavior, Friedl has not consistently performed well. One week he shines, only to make serious mistakes the next.
Recently, a cold slowed him down in the last two games. To make matters worse for the team, there was a video where Andy Brehme’s girlfriend suddenly appeared naked in the background.
However, Friedl has come back to fitness and has nine more games this season to make a strong impact. In an interview with “Deichstube,” Friedl said, “I felt very good and then played games that just weren’t good of me. I’m working on making these fluctuations less.”
As the captain of Werder Bremen, Friedl has set high standards with his good performances and is being judged by them. Clemens Fritz, head of the professional team, does not believe that Friedl feels too much pressure because of the bandage.
Instead, Fritz thinks that being the captain has given Friedl a boost. “I think the armband gives him wings. He has matured as a personality, stands up especially in difficult phases, and leads the way as a captain. In addition, he receives a lot of support from the boys on the team council.”
Now, it is up to Friedl to get consistency in his performances for the rest of the season.
