US online retailer Amazon is planning to increase salaries for logistics employees in Germany. The starting wages will rise to 14 euros per hour “and upwards,” up from the current rate of around 13 euros per hour. Specialists and group leaders may earn 20 euros per hour and more. The wage increase is expected to take effect in September 2023. Amazon has expressed its intention to discuss this proposal with the relevant works councils. Full-time logistics employees without previous qualifications could earn an average wage of 37,000 euros after two years of service, including winter and summer bonuses. However, the Verdi union is demanding a collective agreement with Amazon.
