Acting Icon Nadja Tiller Passes Away at 93

Nadja Tiller is dead: acting legend ("The Girl Rosemarie") was 93

Legendary actress Nadja Tiller, known for her breakthrough role in the 1958 film “The Girl Rosemarie,” has passed away at the age of 93. Tiller had been living in a retirement home in Hamburg in her final years. Her daughter Natascha Giller revealed that she had peacefully passed away in the presence of a nurse. Giller and her family will be making arrangements and heading to Hamburg for the crematorium ceremony before carrying out Tiller’s wish of a burial at sea at a later date.

Throughout her career, Tiller acted in over 120 films and television series. She was known for her unforgettable performances alongside notable actors such as Yul Brynner, Jean-Paul Belmondo, and Mario Adorf. In 1949, Tiller was crowned “Miss Austria,” and in 1956, she married her German colleague Walter Giller, with whom she shared a happy marriage lasting over 55 years.

In 2008, the couple moved from Switzerland to Hamburg, but tragedy struck when Walter Giller passed away from cancer just three years later. Despite several strokes of fate in her life, including a battle with breast cancer in 2006, a stroke shortly after her husband’s death, and surviving COVID-19 in 2020, Tiller remained optimistic and stated that a good mood was vital for a healthy life.

Tiller’s death marks the end of an era, but her legacy lives on through her memorable performances on screen.
