Corinna Schumacher and her daughter Gina Maria represented the car champion during the presentation of a distinction by the authorities of North Rhine-Westphalia.
She had made a point of not coming alone. On July 20, the authorities of North Rhine-Westphalia had planned to present Michael Schumacher with their state prize, the highest honor of the German Land for one of its fellow citizens. Invisible since his skiing accident on December 29, 2013, the former Formula 1 world champion was therefore represented by his wife, Corinna, accompanied for the occasion by their daughter Gina Maria – one of his rare public appearances.
Corinna couldn’t hold back her tears, immediately reigniting rumors of her husband’s deteriorating health. The same day, the latter was attacked in the press by Willi Weber: the pilot’s ex-agent felt that she had “weird behavior since the fall on skis”; he was in fact dismissed by the relatives of the racing driver the day after the accident.
