(Reuters) – Wall Street’s main indices opened lower on Monday, weighed down by rising U.S. bond yields amid forecasts of an aggressive Federal Reserve tightening, coupled with concerns about a China’s economic slowdown.
At the open, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 214.2 points, or 0.65%, at 32,685.17; the S&P 500 index was down 42.1 points, or 1.02%, at 4,081.27; and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 221.6 points, or 1.82%, to 11,923.029 units.
All three benchmarks extended losses shortly after the opening session in New York.
