This May 9, participants of the Immortal Regiment march gather in Moscow to carry portraits of their relatives who fell during the Great Patriotic War fighting Nazi Germany.
The crowd will walk through the central streets of the Russian capital until they reach Red Square.
Apart from Moscow, parades involving civilians are held in other cities throughout Russia, as well as abroad. In particular, this symbolic act also took place in various Latin American countries such as Venezuela, Ecuador, Chile, Bolivia, Argentina, Cuba and Nicaragua.
The two previous years the march was carried out mostly virtually due to health restrictions due to covid-19.
