What did George Pérez, the famous DC Comics cartoonist, die of?

The world of comics is in mourning after confirming that the cartoonist George Pérez passed away on Friday, May 6 after struggling for some years with a terrible disease. The artist gained a good reputation for his works, mainly in the company of DC Comics.

At 67 years of age, the cartoonist leaves an important void in all the fans of comics around the world, who will remember his works in “Justice League of America”, “Crisis on Infinite Earths”, among others.

WHAT DID GEORGE PÉREZ DIE OF?

The cartoonist died at home, accompanied by his relatives and without any pain, as revealed by a very close friend. As we will remember, in 2021 he himself announced that he had been detected with pancreatic cancer.

By that date of the announcement of his illness, Pérez had already retired because in 2019 some problems with his vision intensified and he could not continue drawing normally.

Despite this, during the last years of his life he decided to take time for his fans and attended every convention he could to give more details about his work in comics.

After confirming the death of the artist, his publishing house, where he worked for most of his life, dedicated some heartfelt words to him for his career through his official social media accounts.

George Pérez started at Marvel, so he has also left a legacy in that company, which also added to the recognition with a publication on his social networks.

“George Pérez was an artist, a writer, a role model and a friend. His work paved seminal stories throughout comics, and his legacy of kindness and generosity will never be forgotten. Our family at Marvel mourns the loss of him today, and our hearts go out to his family and loved ones.”they wrote from Marvel.
