The House of the Dragon: the 5 details of the trailer that you should pay attention to

We know that most of you had enough Game of Thrones with that final season full of contradictions and precipitous situations. The same thing happened to us and, however, we have to break a spear for the prequel that HBO is preparing. Couldn’t look better each new trailer is surpassed. Based on the novel Fire and Blood by George RR Martin and set 200 years before the original plot, the series will arrive on August 22 and we have thought it convenient to go reactivating your hype for Poniente. To do this, at FreeGameTips we are going to break down the 5 keys of the trailer which you have to pay attention to. Details to fall in love with the epic that is coming and that invite us to be optimistic that this time, yes, things will be done well. Without further ado, dracarys!

Return to Dragonstone

Surely the scene with which the trailer starts has been familiar to you and you may have even thought that the Targaryen with her back turned was Daenerys. It is not for less. The new series takes us back to dragonstone, the place where the Breaker of Chains was installed during the last season of Game of Thrones. In this prequel we will understand the symbolism of that moment since Rocadragón is the corner where the Targaryen dynasty sits upon arrival in Westeros, after surviving and fleeing the Curse of Valyria.

The Targaryens make this iconic place their fortress and the point from which they plan their conquest of the Seven Kingdoms. In Blood and Fire, the novel in which The House of the Dragon is set, this location plays a much larger role, almost as much as King’s Landing in the original series. It is one of the sets that is repeated the most in the trailer and on top of that we remind you that it is located in Spainspecifically in Vizcaya, in San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, where, of course, you can visit.

the new dragons

We know the affection that many of you had for Drogo, Rhaegal and Viserion, Daenerys’s spoiled children, but we are sure that the new dragons of The House of the Dragon will also find a place in your little heart. They are many and varied, since the series is set in a time when they are no longer in danger of extinction, but this trailer serves to meet some of the most important. At second 18, for example, we can see Rhaenyra Targaryen arriving at the Red Keep mounted on Syrax. She is the personal dragon of the princess and is a female with yellow scales.

About the identity of the second, whom we see at the end of the trailer, there is much more debate, but everything indicates that it could be Caraxes, Daemon Targaryen’s Dragon, whom we precisely see entering his lair. If it is him, we are facing a fearsome and experienced red dragon nicknamed the amphipter of blood. It is said to be even larger than Daenerys’ own Drogon. And although HBO has not wanted to reveal more, the list of names that appear in the book is not exactly short. Meleys, Sunfyre, Vhagar, Tessarion, Caníbal… Of all colors and for all tastes.

The House of Stark and its new foreign policy

For those who are willing to shout again that “The king in the north!”, attentive to the second 20 of the trailer. There were rumors that the Stark house would not appear in this first season, but there you have his representative, Rickon Stark. And we just see him doing the opposite of what the Starks have us used to: kneeling before a Targaryen!

Rickon (Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North) is accompanied by Corlys Velaryon (head of his house and lord of Driftmark), as well as Boremund Baratheon (belonging to the well-known house of the Stag, owner of the Stormlands). The three meet swearing allegiance to King Vyserys I Targaryen. Who would have told us? Even less important than they were in Game of Thrones, the Starks will also play a key role in the Dance with Dragons, allying with the Targaryens and sealing the Pact of Ice and Fire. Rickon will not be the only one, but we will have to wait to see what other relatives of his like Lord Cregan Stark look like.

What is the Dragon Dance?

The House of the Dragon revolves around one of the most important moments in the history of Westeros. We refer to the Dance of Dragons. The readers of the books will already know where the shots are going, since they keep citing them, but for newcomers, let’s say that it is about a bloody Targaryen civil war. The cause of the dynasty ending up in check and almost exterminated. If the battles of Game of Thrones have captivated you, imagine how those of its prequel can become, in which both sides have their own dragons.

The trailer allows you to put a face to the key characters in the conflict. In it we see the alleged rightful heir to House TargaryenPrincess Rhaenyra (played by Emma D’Arcy), or the ruthless uncle she is forced to marry, Daemon Targaryen (played by the famous Matt Smith). A marriage devoid of affection “but necessary” to avoid by all means that the Targaryen lineage be sullied with that of the Torrealta housecon Alicent (Olivia Cooke) to the head. He will be the son of this, Aegon II, the great danger of the throne in future seasons. An important gibberish of names, relationships and titles which will lead to great political stunts, one of our favorite features of the George RR Martin universe.

the soundtrack

Little is said about how emblematic many of game of thrones melodies and the determining factor that resulted in their day. The last detail that we want to highlight is not looked at with any magnifying glass, it is heard. Because the soundtrack of The House of the Dragon will be as ambitious as that of the original series. In the trailer you can hear a new mix of several well-known pieces whom you will recognize especially in the final moments of it. And to everyone’s delight, the House of Dragon OST will once again feature the prestigious composer Ramin Djawadiauthor of the Game of Thrones theme that absolutely all of us are capable of humming, as well as masterpieces like the following:
