After “woman-fragranced coffee” became one of the most viewed Netflix productions in 2022, the William Levy’s career it took off much more internationally; Proof of this is the large number of followers that he has been attracting in different countries, who are watching every step he takes. Although, on a professional level, he has known how to stand out based on his talent, this would not have been possible if he had not left, together with his family, his native Cuba.
Taking advantage of his presence in Spain, the actor was invited to the program “El Hormiguero”, by Pablo Motos, where in addition to talking about the successful Colombian telenovela, he recalled the harsh childhood and adolescence he lived in his nation with his loved ones. Precisely, we will focus on this aspect of his life.
As is known, the producer was also born in Havana on August 29, 1980 and has two brothers. When he was little, his father abandoned them, so he grew up in the care of her mother and her family.

THE LIFE OF WILLIAM LEVY IN CUBA
William Levy, 41, revealed how his childhood and adolescence were in Cuba, a country that he left at the age of 15, together with his family, thanks to his stepfather.
“My father was a political prisoner and the United States gave us asylum. We were lucky to go out and start a life full of opportunities. When I barely had to eat
The moment in which Pablo Motos asked him if he was hungry during that time, the protagonist of “Beware the angel” He let out a laugh that surprised the host of the program. “I spent fifteen years on a government-mandated diet. Now we are the same as in ’93 and ’94: without food”said.
He also revealed how the days were that he barely had to eat: “It was the hardest moment of my life because I was nine years old, I was very hungry and they gave us one piece of bread a day per person”.

So how did he manage to survive?
Levy recalled stories of his neighbors, with whom he planned how not to go hungry. He remembered the time one of them bought a pig and raised it in the bathtub of his house, everything under absolute confidentiality, because if they discovered it he would go to jail.
Once they realized that they could already sacrifice it, they killed it and shared it among themselves.

EVERYTHING WAS DIFFERENT WHEN I ARRIVED IN THE UNITED STATES
The actor said that when he arrived in the United States, he still had recorded everything that happened to him in his native country, so as soon as he saw an apple he “devoured” it. The reason? Well, in Cuba there was no this fruit. But his biggest surprise came later.
While he was a sophomore in college, William Levy was invited to a modeling agency and the day he got his salary he couldn’t believe his eyes. “In my first job I was paid $1,250 a day for three days. I had never seen a thousand dollars together”.
