The fake profiles of former presidents on social networks

Carlos Salinas de Gortari

The former president is one of the politicians who remain in the collective memory of Mexicans, despite having left Los Pinos more than 28 years ago. The PRI is one of the most “duplicated” public servants in the networks, of which, at least officially, he has never been a part.

Twitter, the most acidic and political of the networks, is the favorite for the “cybernetic salinistas”, who have taken the time to create false profiles of the 90th president. @CarlosGortari_, with 18,000 followers, and @PadinoSalinas, with 6,000, are just two of the economist’s more than 50 false accounts.

The avatars of the profiles, as in Facebook and Instagram, are usually the typical official photos of the time, with a presidential band and chair, and some more that include photomontages with equally controversial characters such as Enrique Peña Nieto and Michael of the Madrid.
