Ukraine claims it destroyed two Russian ships in the Black Sea

According to Ukraine, Russian ships had previously tried to conduct reconnaissance at the mouth of the Danube.

Two Russian patrol boats sailing the Black Sea have been destroyed by fire allegedly from two Ukrainian drones, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Valerii Zaluzhnyi said on his Telegram channel.

As reported by the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform, which quotes this commander, “two Russian Raptor-class ships were destroyed near Zmiinyi (Snake) Island in the early hours of today.”

“Bayraktar is operating,” Zaluzhnyi wrote in reference to a Turkish long-distance, medium-altitude unmanned combat aerial vehicle capable of autonomous or remotely controlled flight operations.

According to Ukraine, Russian ships had previously tried to conduct reconnaissance at the mouth of the Danube.

“Under the cover of darkness, the enemy Raptor assault ships tried to reconnoitre the situation at the mouth of the Danube. Sensing the danger, the enemy ships retreated towards Zmiiny, but there they were hit by Bayraktar’s punishment,” the statement said.

Zaluzhnyi’s statement is accompanied by some images, apparently taken with drones, in which it is seen how projectiles destroy the ships.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense echoed the news.
