Pimentel also shared that the culminating moment of the gala will be the auction that aims to “raise funds for the museum’s exhibition program”, since MARCO, being a public-private, non-profit Civil Association, does not depend on state budget. There will be six works for sale during the gala, including one by the artist Gabriel Orozco.
The concept of this year’s charity gala, says the general director of this institution, will feature artistic interactions. In the year 2020, when this event was held before the pandemic, the theme was the Chinese year, coinciding with the exhibition of The Wang Family Ancestral Hall (2015) Chinese artist and activist palace Ai Weiwei. “The purpose of the charity gala is to create defining ties with civil society,” he concluded.
They are involved in planning Taiyana Pimentel, CEO of MARCO; the architect and designer Mauricio Lobeira, member of the MARCO Gala committee and Veronica Gonzalez CasasPresident of CONARTE, member of the Board of Directors of MARCO and of the committee of the MARCO Gala.
