Apps to free up space on your mobile

Cleaner for WhatsApp

Facing a gallery that can have from 500 to 5,000 images -depending on how much of a fan you are of selfies, Instagram and others- is not easy. In fact, the more photos, the more it will cost us. But between social networks and publishers there is often the problem that photos double, triple and even quadruple. Let’s start with WhatsApp, which suddenly we see that the app occupies 1GB of space on our mobile, the phone’s gallery is a mess of folders and photos that we want to keep with all kinds of spam images and screenshots that have happened to us but they do not do more what to hinder

Cleaning them one by one is usually tedious, and deleting the WhatsApp folder from the gallery is not an option either. luckily we have apps like Cleaner for WhatsApp, which is responsible for scanning the terminal and showing us the images that appear repeatedly to delete them together. The best thing is that it also does the same with audio and video files, so we can clean all the multimedia content of the app in a moment, reviewing what is repeated and what we had lost somewhere and didn’t remember.

Bajar Cleaner for WhatsApp para Android

CCleaner is a well-known PC cleaning app, but the mobile version works well too. It is very similar to Avast Cleaner and works almost the same way, but it has its own features.

The app scans your storage, finds your photos, and lets you delete what you don’t need. There is a feature to remove duplicate photos to clean up your collection a bit. The app is quite simple and in some respects even primitive, so it may not work as intended for some people.

Android Free Up Space Tool

Android has a built-in tool to help you increase the amount of usable storage on your phone. It’s easy to find:

  1. Go to your phone’s settings and select “Storage”. You’ll see information about how much space is in use and a list of file categories.
  2. Tap the “Free up space” button.
  3. You’ll be redirected to the Google Files app, specifically its “Clean” feature, which offers suggestions for freeing up space by getting rid of junk files, deleted screenshots, large photos, media backups, and unused apps; there may also be other suggestions.

duplicate cleaner

Duplicates Cleaner is an app that helps you clean duplicate photos. It not only works with photos or images, but also with other types of files. For example, as audio files, documents, and even video files.

It’s a good way to clean up your smartphone a bit from the heap of junk files. Nevertheless, Duplicates Cleaner only works on files that are actually duplicates. That is, it cannot detect photos that look the same. They must match exactly in terms of name, file size, creation date, and other parameters. If you want to clean similar photos and not just the same ones, you’d better choose something else. But otherwise, Duplicates Cleaner works pretty well, as you can free up quite a bit of space if you save all the duplicate photos often and often.

You can download this app here.

Amazon Photos – Amazon photo storage

Amazon Photos is first and foremost a photo backup app, and then it performs other useful functions. You can store photos for free, but if you want to upload videos to the server as well, it will require an additional fee. The system will store and organize the photos. You can delete them from your phone, but they will stay in the cloud. And at the same time, you will get other useful functions. But if you want to use all the features, you will have to pay.

Avast Cleanup – Avast Phone Cleaner

Avast Cleanup is a basic app that can clean up your photo collection. It scans your device and shows you what you can delete to free up space. There are many such apps, but Avast goes one step further and offers to remove not only duplicate photos, but only similar photos. That is, if you have pressed the capture button several times, you will get many identical photos. Due to the incomplete matching of all data, including EXIF, other applications will not tell you that they are duplicates, but Avast most likely will.

The application is quite aggressive with the RAM. But overall, for a tool like this, it’s pretty good and can come in handy if you need to clear your phone’s memory of a large number of unnecessary photos.

Tips to free up space on your mobile

Clear data and clear cache

It may seem that apps like Amazon or WhatsApp do not consume as much as those 1 and 2GB games that we download from Google Play, but when listing all the apps and seeing what they consume space, we are sure surprised to see that WhatsApp exceeds the gigabyte. If we don’t review Android apps and the hiding-place (temporary data that helps the app work faster), can weigh a considerable size. It is best to go to

Settings > Storage > Apps

and delete in general if it gives you the option or enter one by one in the ones that weigh the most and clear Data and Cache options. Remember that cleaning the cache is temporary, since after a while it will fill up again, but with this simple maintenance method from time to time we will also be taking care of the phone and freeing up space.

Apps you don’t use

A good way to save space is to make sure you don’t get bogged down with apps you haven’t used in months. It’s all too easy to download an app, try it out, and then leave it idle while you get on with other things. If you want to know how much that app you don’t use weighs:

  1. Go to the Mobile Storage section
  2. Tap on Apps. You’ll get a list of all your apps, along with how much space each one takes up.
  3. Click on the name of the application. You can now see the size of the app, how much of the available storage is being used by user data, and how much space is being used by cache. Two buttons allow you to “Clear Storage” or “Clear Cache”.

If you’re curious how long it’s been since you used certain apps, here’s how to find out:

  1. Tap on your Play Store app.
  2. Tap your personal icon in the top right corner and select “Manage apps and device.”
  3. Select the Manage tab. On the bottom line, the Installed button should be highlighted; if it isn’t, tap on it.
  4. To the right of the Apps header, you’ll see the rating icon. Tap on it and select “Less Used”.

Now, you’ll be able to see the apps you’ve only used occasionally (if at all) at the top of the list. You don’t necessarily want to get rid of them – sometimes it’s nice to have an app just in case – but you might find some that you no longer need.

Mover apps a la microSD

If the mobile has microSD card slota 32 or 64GB one (they are very well priced now) can be very helpful, since you can use it to save photos, videos and apps so that the terminal and its space are not very saturated. The process is simple, and in the case of things like apps, when you install them, the mobile itself will ask you if you want to free up some of the space and move them to the card.

Be careful, it doesn’t move them entirely, but it does transfer part of the files and with it part of the load. If you don’t get it, go to the same site as the previous point, and where are the options to clear cache and data of an app you will see the Move option.

Delete old downloads

In every Android mobile there is a folder in memory called Downloads, to which everything we download goes, from a song to a video, a zip document and everything that has accumulated while browsing the Internet. Accessing it is easy, it is usually within the app interfaceif not by downloads yes with the name of My files.

Within this look for the internal storage icon and you will be browsing all the folders on the phone. You just have to look for the one that says downloads and review what you want to leave and what you want to delete.

Use Apps Lite version

There are apps that consume a lot of battery on Android. And it is that some like Facebook and Messenger eat up the space save and many more resources. For this, some of the most used apps have a lite version‘, which retains most of the basic functions of the application but dispenses with other more superfluous, decorative or demanding ones. We may not have all the features of WhatsApp or Facebook, but in return the lite versions of these will consume much less resources.
