Infinity Ward confirms what seemed obvious: the installment of the saga in 2022 will be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Infinity Ward unveils the news by posting its official logo, reminiscent of the style seen in the 2019 reboot. You can see it in the tweet under this paragraph.
Activision has been active in recent hours. During the NFL draft held in Las Vegas, some players had been invited to see the first preview of the game. They themselves shared the hashtag #ModernWarfare2 on social networks, which gave even more weight to the fact that this would be their definitive name. Hours later, it was the studio itself that made the final name official.
What do we know about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2?
The first details of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 have run through Activision’s fiscal results in the last quarters of 2021. The Americans claimed that it will be “the most advanced experience in the history of the franchise” and that it will feature “revolutionary innovations”. Along with this year’s installment, Warzone 2 will be launched, which we know is developed “from scratch” as “a new experience that will massively evolve battle royale.”
Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 are part of “the new generation of Call of Duty”, as the editor calls it. On numerous occasions they have stressed that their plans for 2022 are “the most ambitious” seen in the long history of the saga. Ghost stars in the first teaser, which you can see at this link.
On the table also remains the stage where the battles will take place. Its managers point out that its setting will be “broadly attractive”. Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard will not mark the end of its release outside of the Xbox ecosystem. Phil Spencer, CEO of the division, promised to “continue to make Call of Duty and other Acitivison Blizzard games available on PlayStation.”
