Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi | 5 characters we would like to see in the series

The premiere of Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney + is one of the most anticipated of the year. Lucasfilm’s limited series will explore a very dark time in the galaxy far, far away, with a Galactic Empire at the height of its power. A decade after the events of Revenge of the Sith, the Jedi Order has been virtually annihilated, but old Master Kenobi has managed to hide… at least until now. Will there be reunions with characters from his past?

We already know for sure that Maul will not be present in the series. His story has been told in other products such as The Clone Wars or Star Wars: Rebels, so the team led by Deborah Chow has preferred to focus on other stories. Leaks point to the return of Bail Organa and su hija Leia, who at that time is still a girl. Be that as it may, below we review some of the protagonists that we would like to see in fiction (and no, Jar-Jar Binks is not among the chosen ones).

  • Qui-Gon Jinn
  • Cal Kestis
  • Palpatine (Darth Sidious)
  • Rex
  • Ashoka Tano

Qui-Gon Jinn

Liam Neeson, the actor who played Qui-Gon Jinn in the prequels, returned for a cameo in The Clone Wars, but also briefly participated in one of the ending sequences of The Rise of Skywalker. Although the interpreter is open to participating in new films, it does not seem that he is willing to do it in a series. All in all, a cameo is a cameo and nothing is ruled out at this point. Qui-Gon is a crucial piece in the history of Obi-Wan Kenobi, so it would be very strange if he did not have a single moment in the series, especially considering his role in the decision to train Anakin Skywalker. Also, Darth Vader is the main villain of the series. Despite the fact that he died in Episode I, he is still present thanks to the Force (not in a corporeal form like the ghosts of Yoda, Obi-Wan or the Skywalkers).

Cal Kestis

The protagonist of the video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is one of the survivors of Order 66. After years in hiding, a visit from the Imperial Inquisitors revealed his cover and he was forced to reconnect with the force. Since then, he was part of a group that fights against the Empire, for which he comes into contact with rebel factions. The game is set 14 years before the Battle of Yavin, which means that the story of Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place only 5 years later (9 years before the Battle of Yavin). Will Cal Kestis and Obi-Wan Kenobi ever meet in person? It would be a possibility, although the universe is very large and there is a sequel to the video game on the way.

Palpatine (Darth Sidious)

Ian McDiarmid, Darth Sidious in the movies, has dropped his return as Sheve Palpatine, the Emperor. In a gruesome period where violence and insecurity plague the galaxy, the Imperial Inquisitors operate under the strict orders of the evil Lord Darth Vader. It wouldn’t be surprising if his Sith master hid in the shadows. and provide his apprentice with instructions to fuel the confrontation with Kenobi, who defeated Vader in combat 10 years earlier. Darth Sidious, also a master manipulator, continues to weave his plans at a point in time when the Rebellion is not yet a threat.

A member of the Republic Army, this clone trooper was a friend of Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker, and Obi-Wan Kenobi. During the Clone Wars, he remained loyal to his friends, with whom he fought side by side. After Palpatine issued Order 66, the clones betrayed their allies and killed the Jedi, but in reality they were doing it for a chip in their heads. Rex managed to remove his inhibitor chip and defected from the Galactic Empire. The character’s story has continued to evolve in Star Wars: Rebels, but he wouldn’t hurt a reunion with Obi-Wan in his series.

Ahsoka Tano

Anakin Skywalker’s former apprentice experienced first-hand the decomposition of the Galactic Republic, when her fellow clones were about to assassinate her. She was out of the Jedi Order since before that happenedAhsoka Tano was one of Obi-Wan’s friends., a relationship that was formed between the three characters. It is to be hoped that the relationship between Anakin and Ahsoka will continue to unravel in their series, but Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi is a good option to see them together again. And for the first time in live action! Yes there are flashbacks of the Clone Wars will have to choose an actress to play the young Ahsoka (in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett the actress is Rosario Dawson).
