If there is something that does not go out of style despite the years, that is Dragon Ball. The original work from Akira Toriyama It started in the eighties, but in the middle of 2022 it is still more relevant than ever. For this reason, this year we are already waiting for the arrival of a new installment of the saga in the form of a movie with Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, which will be released next June in Japan and we hope that soon in the rest of the world. This, added to the fact that the manga with Toyotaro in charge continues its course month by month and that we also have new chapters of Super Dragon Ball Heroes every so often. Almost nothing, right?
But within the Dragon Ball universe there is a most interesting type of product: the films u OVAS. Generally outside the canon, but that have allowed us to meet impressive characters like Broly (now already canonized), CoolerJanemba, new androids and other saiyans, like Turles. Normally located in spaces parallel to what we saw in the anime, they allowed us to enjoy that context a little more. Others directly advance the main plot, such as that of Broly.
So while we await the arrival of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero and we cross our fingers that the anime comes back to life four years later (see the animated Moro saga as the final stretch of Super can be a show) we are going to review the best movies/ova of Dragon Ball. Starting, yes, by highlighting the two best special episodes that have been made of the saga.

1. Dragon Ball Super: Broly
- Release year 2018
The most recent Dragon Ball movie to date is also the one that has been crowned the most voted in the top of FreeGameTips. This tape takes the best of the action of the saga and takes it to another level with a story that rewrites what had been told until then in the previous Broly tapes. Again, the legend about a Legendary Super Saiyan resounds again. That is why King Vegeta decides to exile Paragus and his son Broly on the planet Vampa. There they will remain prisoners for decades, until they are rescued by a couple of Frieza’s soldiers. The ransom is not free, far from it.
Frieza’s mission is to kill two of his archenemies, Goku and Vegeta. A series of battles ensue until the devious villain kills Paragus, awakening the latent power that existed within Broly. Turned into a mindless monster and overwhelming, the beast forces Goku and Vegeta to resort to their last card, the fusion. Already as Gogeta in his Blue form, the tables turn and the fight approaches its final outcome.
As in The Battle of Gods, Toei Animation combines the classic two-dimensional animation with CG effects. The result is a wonderful choreography full of action, humor and fun.
