Celine Dion paid tribute to Ukrainians by posting a video on Instagram.
She had not appeared on screen for several months and had even canceled her world tour, weakened by serious health concerns. Celine Dion released a video of herself calling on the international community to come to the aid of Ukraine. “I #StandUpForUkraine and for refugees around the world. I call on world leaders to take action to help all those forced from their homes. We need to make sure they get the support they desperately need now,” she captioned.
In the one-minute clip, the superstar sits facing the camera. Her hair is soberly knotted. She is dressed in a white jacket, as a sign of peace. “I stand up for Ukraine and for refugees around the world,” she said, in a serious tone, placing her right hand on her heart. “I call on world leaders to take action to help all those who are forced from their homes. We need to make sure they get the support they desperately need now,” she added.
In early March, a few days after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, she posted a long message on her Instagram account. “To you, brave people of Ukraine, we are with you wholeheartedly. We are shocked and saddened, but also greatly inspired by your bravery… You have our support and our prayers for peace,” she wrote.
The Quebec superstar rarely speaks on social media. In January, she had taken the time to celebrate the 21st birthday of her son René-Charles.
