Vicarious Visions (Tony Hawk, Crash) completes their goodbye: they become Blizzard Albany

Activision Blizzard has consummated the process of merging Vicarious Visions into Blizzard Entertainment. After learning that the team responsible for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy would no longer be its own subsidiary studio to join the ranks of the North American giant. In this way, from now on Vicarious becomes Blizzard Albany.

“We have officially merged with Blizzard Entertainment,” reports the official, now-outdated Vicarious Visions account. “Our development team will continue to be in Albany, New York, and will be fully dedicated to Blizzard video games,” they stress, also inviting fans to follow the Blizzard Entertainment account.

Blizzard Entertainment incorporates an asset of more than 200 employees

This strategic move translates into a transfer of more than 200 employees to Blizzard Entertainment, responsible for licenses such as Diablo, Overwatch, Hearthstone or StarCraft. Looking to the future, as far as we know, Blizzard Entertainmnt is working on the premiere of Diablo Immortal for mobile devices; Overwatch 2 Y Diablo IVprojects that are not having a very easy development due to all the changes, exits and problems that surround Activision Blizzard in the last two years.

It is on these projects that Blizzard Albany (Vicarious Visions) will work from now on, in addition to the ports or adaptations contemplated in the roadmap of the parent company. Vicarious Visions thus says goodbye to an independent career (1990-2005) and an extensive period as part of Activision (2005-2021).

It should also be noted that the purchase of Activision Blizzard (Activision, Blizzard, King) by Microsoft is expected to be completed around June 2023. The operation is valued at 7,500 million dollars and includes the purchase of all the shares of the firm led by Bobby Kotick; at $95 per share.

The director, Kottick, like the rest of the corporation, is immersed in several legal proceedings for severe accusations of labor abuse and sexual harassment; strike calls and employee complaints.
