“Bridgerton”: why there are fewer bed scenes in season 2

During the second season of “Bridgerton”the sexual tension between Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate (Simone Ashley) is undeniable, but compared to the first installment of the series produced by Shonda Rhimes for Netflixwhere Simon and Daphne were the leads, the new episodes have fewer bed scenes.

Although Kate and Anthony only have two intimate scenes in the second season, the glances, the close-ups, the touch of their hands and bodies are sexy enough to dispense with more sequences of explicit intimacy.

The showrunner of “Bridgerton”, Chris Van Dusen, clarified that this was not with the intention of lowering the tone. “It’s an incredibly tense, charged and sexy love story between enemies and lovers. I wouldn’t necessarily describe it as a more moderate approach”, he explained to Digital Spy.

WHY DOES “BRIDGERTON” 2 HAVE FEWER BED SCENES?

Unlike Simon (Regé-Jean Page) and Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), Kate and Anthony cannot give free rein to their passion, as it would be completely inappropriate and they would be betraying Edwina Sharma.

Our approach to intimacy and sex on the show has really stayed the same from the first season. All the sex scenes, choreographed with an intimacy coordinator, serve a much greater purpose”, explained the showrunner of “Bridgerton”.

Likewise, Chris Van Dusen added: “The sizzling moments are just as sexy and outrageous as the first season, in terms of the longing glances across the room or that close finger, brushing and touching the hand.”.

So, every moment of intimacy between the protagonists of the second season of “Bridgerton” serves to build your bond and relationship. “All of that adds to the sexual tension that can be felt this season and seen to grow. You can feel it grow and grow. From scene to scene, from episode to episode”.
