The actor posted a text on a black background to publicly apologize to Chris Rock and deliver a message about violence in general: “Violence in all its forms is toxic and destructive. My behavior at the Oscars yesterday was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally. He continues: “I want to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I overstepped the mark and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions are not representative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness. Chris Rock has not yet reacted to Will Smith’s message.
In this publication, the star of “I am a legend” also wanted to apologize to the Academy: “I also want to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the participants and of all viewers around the world. Indeed, his act could lead to serious consequences since the Academy has launched an official review to follow up on the incident. He may never be able to attend the ceremony again or lose his Oscar.
