Juan Pablo Socarrás, the child prodigy of Colombian fashion

Define your style as “the narrative of other people’s experiences”, but interpreted by him through fabrics, embroidery and prints with a touch of luxury. Not bad for someone who studied Industrial Design and then, hidden from his parents, studied Fashion Design. “I don’t know if I’m a good designer, but I do know that I’m very good at telling stories,” he says seriously.

A few months ago, during a fashion event in Playa del Carmen in which he was the main designer, Juan Pablo told us about his intentions to present himself on the fashion platforms of Mexico City, something that we look forward to. But Socarrás not only plans to work in our country, he would also like to collaborate with the national indigenous communities.

“Great things are learned from them, because we designers arrive with certain egos and studies, but without knowing how to listen. Mexico inspires me, it has a huge market, with great designers and artisans who are my reference in many things such as cinema, television and letters, and that also translates into fashion”, concludes Juan Pablo.
