She is fine. While currently chairing the American film festival in Deauville (Calvados), Charlotte Gainsbourg assured that Jane Birkin is no longer in danger. “I have a message from my mother. I got it earlier and I know people are worried about her. She is fine,” said Serge Gainsbourg’s daughter on the main stage of the festival. “I asked her if she wanted me to say something. She told me that everything is fine and that the Nantes University Hospital is great”, she added.
Jane Birkin’s agent announced on Tuesday that the 74-year-old singer suffered a mild form of stroke last week and was canceling her engagements until the end of the week.
The Deauville festival, in which Jane Birkin was to participate, is held until Sunday. Charlotte Gainsbourg presented there on Wednesday Jane par Charlotte. Tender and introspective, this documentary unveiled in July in Cannes shows the daily life of Jane Birkin, in her house in Brittany, the passion shared with her daughter for dogs, and also addresses the painful subjects of absence and illness.
