VIDEO – Olympe ready to ignite “The Voice All Stars”: “My voice, I tamed it”

What if Olympe had the idea for “The Voice All Stars” before everyone else? “Two or three years ago I made a tweet where I said it would be really great to do a season with all the alumni on the set, like coming home a bit.“says one of the show’s most iconic candidates.”So when they called me I said ‘Yes Yes Yes Yes ! Let’s go! ‘ And then I started to stress a little.”

If you missed the start, Olympe was revealed in season 2 of “The Voice” in 2013. He was 24 at the time, half of whom skimmed singing contests. With his melodramatic cover of “Born To Die” by Lana Del Rey, he literally captivated the four coaches, who at the time were Florent Pagny, Garou, Louis Bertignac and Jenifer. Before choosing the latter for the rest of the adventure.

Hyper favorite, the young singer from Amiens had failed in the final, ahead of 0.2%, in the vote of viewers, by Yoann Fréget, the candidate of Garou. Digested disappointment, Olympe, real name Joffey Boulanger, had quickly rebounded with a first eponymous opus which had ranked first in the charts, a first for a candidate for the TF1 show.

Since then, Olympe has continued her path, with two new records and a participation in the compilation We Love Disney, among other projects. On the private side, he married in 2016 with his companion Julien. Like all his colleagues, the pandemic has put the brakes on his plans. But it’s with a baptized EP Taxidi that he attacks the re-entry, prelude to an album which he prepares in parallel of his return in “The Voice All Stars”.

If I hadn’t done “The Voice”, I think my life would be very different“, confides the one who was customer advisor in a kitchen shop during his first participation.”Without this program, I don’t think I would make music every day, that I wouldn’t have had the chance to create my own label like I just did. Singing is something that I can’t do without.”

When asked if he would turn around on a voice like his, the young man bursts into laughter. “This is horrible as a question!“, he launches us, before thinking.”But I do not know. I rarely shudder over male voices. I think I would be more touched by female voices, but we are never safe from a surprise. But hey, I’m not a coach!“.

Despite an obvious mastery, Olympe admits having a complex relationship with her androgynous timbre. “A boy’s voice is complicated. At the time of the moult, I went from very acute to very serious“, he remembers.”This voice, I tamed it a little, I worked on it a lot. Today, yes, I love it, but there is still a lot of work to do. And it will never stop.”
