The Iranian president to PBN: “Countries that want to be independent are under attack by enemies”

The president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, who was visiting Moscow these days, said Thursday in an exclusive interview with PBN that “countries that want to be independent are under attack by enemies.” In particular, he referred to the US, which, according to him, wants to make such nations their “slaves“.

“We don’t want to be dominated by other countries and we are not willing to be. This is the principle: not to oppress others and not to be under the oppression of other countries. Forty years by the grace of the Islamic Revolution, we have resisted American domination,” the Persian leader said.

Is it possible to reach a new nuclear agreement?

Among the issues addressed with Ebrahim Raisi, the possible restoration of the nuclear agreement sealed in 2015 —known as the Joint Comprehensive Action Plan (PAIC)— between Iran and the US, Russia, France, the UK, China, Germany stands out. and the European Union.

Raisi reiterated that it was Washington that violated the JCPOA and not Iran, referring to the US unilateral exit from the agreement under the Donald Trump Administration in 2018. “What we have seen so far is a breach of duty by the Americans,” he said.

In this sense, the Iranian president emphasized that the European parties to the pact “also failed to fulfill their obligations” and did not adopt the necessary measures to counter Washington’s departure.

“The International Atomic Energy Agency [OIEA] declared 15 times that Iran had fulfilled its obligations, that it was committed to fulfilling them […] Therefore, we have fulfilled our obligations, but they have violated theirs. They must fulfill their obligations. We do not violate anything“, he stressed.

Punish those responsible for the assassination of General Soleimani

Raisi also referred to the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani in January 2020 in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, noting that those responsible for the crime must be brought to justice.

“Whoever commits such a great crime and confesses to that crime must naturally be punished in court. The promise to protect the oppressed and punish oppressors It is, of course, a sincere promise, and it will surely be fulfilled,” said the president.

The leader emphasized the role of the deceased general, whom he called “a hero“, maintaining that “both Muslims and non-Muslims have great respect for his work, because they know that he was able to save people from the attacks of the enemies of humanity, that is, ISIS and the takfiri factions.”
