Pelé returns to the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo to resume chemotherapy treatment

Soccer legend Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pelé, returned this week to the prestigious Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo to resume the chemotherapy treatment he has been undergoing since last year, reported ESPN Brazil.

The outlet added that the Brazilian star, considered one of the best soccer players in history, is stable and could be discharged this Thursday.

The visit to the medical center will reveal the exact location of the cancer cells and to what parts of Pelé’s body they have spread. The Brazilian star has a tumor in the intestine, in the liver and the beginning of another in the lung.

Pelé, 81, was hospitalized several times last year and even underwent surgery to remove a tumor in his colon.
