There are other confirmed games like “playable on Steam Deck”, that is, those that do not meet all the requirements to be verified but that can be executed without problem. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, for example, notes that “text may be too small” on screen. War Thunder and RimWorld are other titles under the same rating.

To check yourself the compatibility with Steam Deck there is a trick, discovered by users. In Firefox open a Steam window and press the key combination Ctrl+Shift+M. That will open the tablet mode of the store. Click on the devices, create a new profile and select “Valve Steam Gamepad”. Change the resolution to 910×568. Save the changes, refresh the window and go to any game; you will see if it is compatible o no con Steam Deck.

What requirements must a game meet to be verified for the Steam Deck?

For a game to pass Valve’s filter it must comply four requirements:

  • All functions can be accessed with the remote’s default settings.
  • The game displays the Steam Deck controller icons.
  • The game’s interface text is readable on the Steam Deck.
  • The default graphics settings for this game work fine on the Steam Deck.

Those who do not meet any of these points may end up qualified as “playable”. As we said in previous paragraphs, it means that it runs correctly on the laptop, but for some reason the experience will not be full as a verified game.

Games that don’t run will be marked “not compatible with Steam Deck”. From Valve they assure that these games have not passed the compatibility tests carried out internally because “part or all of the game does not currently work”. Of course, in some cases they will continue working to make it compatible. The first games with this signal are Persona 4 Golden, Job Simulator, theBlu, Arizona Sunshine y Budget Cuts.
