René Angélil died in 2016 at the age of 73 after a courageous battle with cancer. The famous Canadian impresario, who largely contributed to the worldwide success of the singer, had married the latter in 1994 at the Notre-Dame basilica in Montreal – where her national funeral also took place. Together, they had three children, René-Charles (20) and twins Nelson and Eddy (11).

Celine Dion had not spoken on her Instagram page since the Christmas holidays last month. In October, she announced that she had been forced to cancel her tour and put her plans on hold to “focus” on her health.
