Luces Velásquez, the connection between “Coffee with the aroma of a woman” and “I am Betty, the ugly one”

“Woman-fragranced coffee” and “I am Betty, the ugly”, productions that are available on Netflix, apparently have nothing in common. In fact, their stories are totally different. However, there is something that unites them. What is the connection between these two soap operas? The actress Luces Velásquez.

The Colombian interpreter rose to international fame after giving life to “Bertha Muñoz” in “Yo soy Betty la fea”, a telenovela that premiered on October 25, 19991 and ended on May 8, 2001. Since then, she has continued to add more titles to his career in theater, film and television.

Now Luces Velásquez participates in the telenovela “Woman-fragranced coffee”, Telemundo production where he gives life to “Julia de Vallejo”, the mother of “Sebastián” (William Levy) and the one in charge of making the life of squares to “La Gaviota” (Laura Londoño).

LUCES VELÁSQUEZ, THE CONNECTION BETWEEN “COFFEE WITH A WOMAN’S AROMA” AND “I AM BETTY, LA FEA”

In the remake of “Coffee with the aroma of a woman”, Luces Velásquez gives life to Julia Vallejo, mother of Sebastián Vallejo, character of William Levy. This is a lady from a good family and well dressed, who will be in charge of making life in squares for “La Gaviota”.

Since “Café con aroma de mujer” premiered on Netflix on December 29, 2021, the Colombian telenovela has positioned itself among the first places in several Latin American countries.

Fiction has captivated the hearts of millions of fans around the world, proof of this is that it remains among the most viewed since it arrived at the streaming giant. And Luces Velásquez has been happy with the good reception from the public.

In this production, Luces Velásquez leaves behind her iconic character of “Bertha Muñoz” in “Yo soy Betty la fea”, where she played a secretary who belonged to the ‘Barracks of the Ugly’. She was characterized by being a gossip, she was always eating something and did not dress up much.

A character very different from that of “Coffee with the aroma of a woman”, as Luces Velásquez herself mentions: “People remember me for Betty, for a character who was very different, very happy, very smiling, very childish, very childish. And this is a very laid woman, stoic, contracted and strong. It has been difficult for me to do it because it has nothing to do with me, but that is what acting is about, ”he told Telemundo.

The Telemundo production stars William Levy, Laura Londoño and Carmen Villalobos, who play Sebastián Vallejo, La Gaviota and Lucía Sanclemente, respectively, in the new version of the 1994 telenovela of the same name created by Fernando Gaitán.
