Elisabeth II: strong alcohol is now prohibited

After being hospitalized, Elisabeth II must take care of herself. For several weeks, she was replaced by other members of the royal family, such as Prince Charles at COP26. She was also absent recently, on Remembrance Day on November 14th. But her condition seems to be improving and the queen is gradually resuming her obligations. She ensures her official meetings from Windsor Castle. However, there is a daily ritual that the sovereign could not find: her glass of Dry Martini every evening. At 95, Elisabeth II must give up this little pleasure that she so cherishes. “The queen was advised to stop drinking her evening martini,” a friend of the royal family told “Vanity Fair” last October. He continues, “It’s not much to her, she doesn’t drink a lot, but it seems a little unfair that at this point in her life she is forced to give up one of her little pleasures. “

A compromise

Elisabeth II therefore agreed to follow the doctors’ recommendations, but she still found a compromise: a glass of wine at the table. “I choose for the queen, but she is quite demanding, because she does not drink a lot of wine at the moment. It’s bad for her joints, and she can’t drink too much when she’s doing all those royal engagements – it’s not a drinkable job, ”her sommelier told The Daily Mail. The latter explains that the queen’s husband, Prince Philip, had himself replaced his evening wine with another, rather unexpected drink: beer. “He had this idea that he couldn’t drink wine because it would make him too sick as he got older, so very exceptionally I had to act as a beer sommelier for him. I didn’t dare tell him that the beer was even worse for him, ”he admits.
