He was the marching band director at Paris High School for over 30 years, he was the assistant principal at Mayo Middle School for 15 years, and just this year, Warren Sperry is hanging his hat up from the Paris School system, and retiring as assistant principal.

Sperry began his long career as the director of the Paris High School band in 1968. Well, he was kind of thrown into the position. Sperry was supposed to be the director of Mayo’s band starting in the fall of 1968, but a few days before the start of the school year, the high school band director position opened up and Sperry was asked to fill it, and he held it for 31 years.
